Four Peaks; Four Provinces; Twenty-Four Hours

At 12am on 17th June Dad, Mam and I said goodbye to our house and comfy beds, got into the car and set off up the country, all anxious and excited for what was to come. Little did we know then that in just 24 hours we would manage to: Walk for 14 hours and […]

  • The Galtee Crossing

    The Galtee Crossing

Our first full crossing of the Galty Range, completing The Galtee Mountains Challenge. We dropped Dad’s car at Kilcoran Lodge for later and Mam drove us to Anglesboro, where we set off from. It was a beautiful day, we had lots of water packed. It took us an hour and 20 minutes to get to […]

  • An Easy Evening

    An Easy Evening

We went on a mini Cork tour after CoderDojo class today, first visiting Baraveha near the source of the Blackwater. We know our route for this off by heart now, making use of wellies to save some time. Great views of The Paps & Reeks. Next, Coomagearlahy! We tried to find a quicker route for […]

    Baraveha

7 more points for High Point Ireland All Ireland Sport Hillwalking Championships this evening on Baraveha near Ballydesmond. We left home after dinner and we were walking for 8pm, travelling through some rough ground to try and find the shortest route.

    The Coomloughra Horseshoe

We thought it would be a bit ambitious to attempt the The MacGillycuddy’s Reeks Mountain Challenge in one day, so we decided to test it out by splitting it into two halves. After Coderdojo, we headed down to Kerry. We would be hiking the Coomloughra Horseshoe, but adding on a little bit to visit Knockbrinnea. […]

As we were coming to the end of round 1 of the All-Ireland Hillwalking Championships, we had already visited all the our local Sport Hillwalking Locations, […]

An action packed day: A 5am start, a 10pm finish, 450 Km of driving, 10 High Point Ireland Sport Hillwalking Locations visited, 63 points gained in the All Ireland Hillwalking Championships. Walking boots, wellingtons, wet gear and bikes were all used on road, trails and mud. Here’s how it went! The weather wasn’t promising for the day, especially […]

  • Sunset On Seefin

    Sunset On Seefin

A beautiful climb up Seefin offered us some simply stunning views, including the Galtees, Kilcruig, and the Knockmealdowns. I timelapsed the sunset, but it turned out a bit shaky due the gusty winds. We earned another 6 points for the The All-Ireland Hillwalking Championships, helping us to claw our way a bit further up the leaderboard.
